Bedford Now: Me & Julio’s

Bedford, Indiana doesn’t really have a restaurant scene…
It really doesn’t have any scene at all, but what it does have are unique venues that are sometimes ignored by the general populous. It is important to searchout these sites to enjoy them for what they are worth. Also, many people think because Bedford is a small town, it surely can’t have neat little places where you could spend time socializing with friends and forget for a little while the worries of life.
Guess What!
Bedford has those type of places…

Today I visited one of those places for the second time since its opening. Me & Julio’s is a quaint pizza parlor just off the west side of the downtown square. An almost life-size waiter, possibly cast in some sort of resin, stands in the front greeting you with the day’s specials in hand. It features a nice sized eating area with a variety of booths and tables. The walls of the eating area are covered with unique memorabilia, most Indiana related, including some posters and original newspaper articles related to Indiana born legend James Dean. Also of note is a poster that looks like a original movie promotion poster for the movie, Rocky, and a poster that features a tribute to the victims of September 11th. Also in the dining room is a rockin’ authentic looking jukebox, although I have not yet tried it…
Me & Julio’s menu features your traditional pizzas, cheese bread, and salads you find at any pizza restaurant. What you don’t find at every pizza place is tomato cheese bread, buffalo wings you can order in increments of 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 (Wow!! that’s a lot of buffalo wings), mega gourmet subs (I don’t think we’re at your normal sub place anymore, toto), and specialty pizza pies among other things. The prices reasonable for the expereince you receive.
At a quick glance I noticed that they had a little arcade towards the back of the restaurant and that yesterday’s special was a grilled chicken salad. Of course they have stuff to work on, like the neon lighting in the dining area, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
I obviously left stuff out because this place is best described when you experience it yourself.
Visit Me & Julio’s at 1020 16th Street on the west side of Bedford’s downtown square, two or three doors downs from Carriage House Furniture.
