While working on another piece for the blog, I looked up the word steadfastness and was amazed by the differing primary definitions:

From Princeton WordNet:

“loyalty in the face of trouble and difficulty”

Compare with the primary definition from Merriam-Webster:

“firmly fixed in place; not subject to change”

I appreciate the depth of the primary definition from Princeton and my fondness for this word has definitely changed.  Sometimes it’s all a matter of context and depth to bring out more from the seemingly ordinary, huh?
